‘Calyx’ is a (r)Evolutionary Project being shaped by Alistair Gould in partnership with fellow cohort members within the Buckminster Fuller Institute’s Design Science Studio.
The project encompasses the creation and nurturing of a liminal space infused with nature-inspired designs enabling co-creative regenerative responses to the climate and ecological emergency.
A Calyx space in particular provides support to those working in the myriad forms and fields of the creative arts who are helping to bring to life the new narratives for the transformative times we are currently living through.
The project concept is being developed and coordinated by team members from Furnace Brook CIC and The Carbon Free Group CIC at the Furnace Brook location in the High Weald, East Sussex, England.
The 15 acre site at Furnace Brook has been reshaped over recent years with a range of regenerative design approaches and elements incorporating rapid prototyping and ‘show and tell’ models for resilience and sustainable living. Team members are also working with others at two further sites in Southern England with a similar focus and ethos.
On the ground, working with partnerships through the Design Science Studio and elsewhere, the next steps include plans for
a) An annual themed creative ‘confluence’ for artists and creatives
b) Creative arts courses and retreats

c) Resilience Programmes
The project is organic in its unfolding and is inspired by and aligned with the direction set within the UN Decade on Ecosystems Restoration and the Buckminster Fuller Institute’s Design Science Decade.
Thus this is a decade long project!
